Indian skipper Rohit Sharma on Friday became the highest run-scorer in T20 Internationals with his 100th six during the second match against the Kiwis in Auckland.
With this feat, Sharma fills the top seat in the ladder, followed by New Zealand’s Martin Guptill (2272 runs) and Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik (2245 runs). He also set another record by becoming the only Indian batsman to smash 100 sixes in T20Is.
The stand-in captain Sharma, the only man with 4 hundred in T20 Internationals and 3 ODI double hundreds, needed only 35 runs to go past Guptill at the start of the innings.
He made his T20I debut in 2007 and has played 92 matches in the shortest format for India with the highest score of 118. In One-Day International format he has scored 7808 runs including 22 hundred in 201 matches. Meanwhile, in Tests, he has 1585 runs including 3 hundred in 27 games.
