AAP, Atishi, Gautam Gambhir, BJP, pamphlets

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) East Delhi candidate, Atishi Marlena on Thursday broke down during a press conference while reading a pamphlet containing “obscene and derogatory” remarks against her. The party accused Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) candidate from East Delhi, Gautam Gambhir of distributing the pamphlets in the constituency.

Meanwhile, cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir rubbishing the allegation dared Atishi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to prove if it was done by him. “I declare that if its proven that I did it, I will withdraw my candidature right now. If not, will u quit politics?,” Gambhir said in a tweet, tagging Atishi and Kejriwal.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal slammed the BJP leader and said that he had “never imagined Gambhir to stoop so low.”

“Never imagined Gautam Gambhir to stoop so low. How can women expect safety if people wid such mentality are voted in? Atishi, stay strong. I can imagine how difficult it must be for u. It is precisely this kind of forces we have to fight against,” Kejriwal tweeted.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia who was also present during the press conference accused Gautam Gambhir of circulating  pamphlets in an attempt to degrade the AAP candidate.

“Language in this pamphlet is so abusive and low that everybody will feel ashamed while reading it,” Manish Sisodia said.

Calling Gambhir “a misogynist bigot”, Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti hailed Atishi for bringing “tremendous change” to public schools.

Earlier, Atishi accused Gautam of holding two voter identity cards- one from one from Karol Bagh and another from Rajinder Nagar. However, Gautam Gambhir denied Atishi Marlena’s allegations, saying one makes such allegations to hide lack of vision and poor performance.
