On Monday, Police detained two members in connection with the murder of a BJP worker last night in North 24 parganas district of West Bengal.
The BJP worker Chandan Shaw was allegedly shot dead. Shaw was attacked by men on bike, it is said that they hurled bombs at him in the beginning and later shot him from a close range.
The incident comes after BJP leader Smriti Irani’s close aide was killed in Amethi on Sunday.
BJP leaders accused TMC goons of carrying out the murder but TMC rejected allegations. West Bengal witnessed huge violence in all rounds of the elections. Investigation is underway.
The Bhatpara assembly constituency was marred by violence during the bypolls held in the state on May 19. BJP and TMC workers clashed in various parts of the state causing a law and order problem.
The Election Commission also imposed section 144 in the constituency indefinitely in anticipation of post-poll violence. Tension prevails in the area especially as BJP made huge strides in West Bengal by winning 18 out of 42 seats in the Lok Sabha Elections 2019.
