2008 Malegaon blasts accused joined Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) on Wednesday after a meeting with senior BJP leaders Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Ramlal, and Prabhat Jha in Bhopal.
Sadhvi will take on Congress candidate Digvijaya Singh as she will contest the national elections from Bhopal Lok Sabha seat. This decision from the party came after former Madhya Pradesh chief ministers Chouhan and Uma Bharti declined to contest from the constituency. She is expected to file her nomination on April 20.
“I have formally joined the BJP, I will contest elections and will definitely win. It won’t be difficult for me,” Sadhvi Pragya said while talking to the media.
Sadhvi, who is one of the accused in 2008 Malegaon multiple blasts case, is out on bail.
On September 2008, two bombs fitted on a motorcycle exploded, killing seven people and injuring over 100 in Malegaon in Maharashtra, around 270 km from Mumbai. They are both out on bail in the case.
