The countdown for Nizamabad elections 2019 has begun. With only a few days left for the first phase of Elections the buzz in the town is huge and it should be. With the highest number of contestants in contest the authorities are making special arrangements to make sure that all goes off smoothly.
With a total of 185 candidates, the highest in the country contesting from Nizamabad constituency the elections commission is placing 12 EVM’s per polling booth to take care of the expected large voter turnout.
In all the 1788 polling booths 12 ballot units along with one control unit and a VVPAT machine will be placed in a ‘L‘ shaped design . This is the first time the election authorities are conducting the polls on such a scale in a single constituency in the country.
The equipment to be engaged in the constituency is over 27,000 ballot units, 3,500 control units and 3,600 VVPATs. The State Chief electoral Officer confirmed that the consignment has reached the constituency and the first level checks of the machines are being carried out.
A huge number of farmers have filed nominations here. They are protesting against the state and central governments for not getting them remunerative prices for their farm produce especially turmeric and soghum which are the mainstay in the region.
The authorities are also involved in creating awareness among the voters on the usage of the election equipment through posters and hoardings. According to reports, the election authorities have completed updating the electoral rolls to avoid a huge number of missing voters witnessed during the state elections held in December 2018.
Nizamabad Constituency will go to polls on April 11th. The State Election authorities have also arranged for webcasting the Election Day. A huge number of students and government officials have been involved to ensure smooth management of the Nizamabad Elections 2019.
