These are some special and interesting facts about the Telugu film industry:

Telugu film industry is as popular as Bollywood in USA and Canada”, film and trade analyst Sreedhar Pillai said. “The huge population of Malayali people in these countries has increased the demand for Telugu movies there. The recent success of actor Mohanlal’s film Lucifer in USA and Canada confirmed this fact yet again,” he added.

Tollywood was the name of Bengali film industry since it was originated from the Tollygunge area of West Bengal. However, the Telugu film industry overtook the Bengali film industry in terms of popularity, and since then Tollywood means Telugu film industry.

Many people do not know about this, but numerous Bollywood actresses and even superstars like Rajnikanth have made their film debut from Telugu film industry. Even actresses like Bipasha Basu and Katrina Kaif found fame in Bollywood only after gaining recognition in the Tollywood films.

Some of the Telugu directors, actors, comedians, and even singers have managed to inscribe their names on the Guinness Book of World Records.  Actor and comedian Brahmanandam holds the record for acting in the most number of films (857+).
