When I emerged from the movie hall post watching the film Andhadhun I had only two thoughts in mind. It reminded me of the un put downable James Hadley Chase novels of yore that I used to read, a twist in every chapter. The other being the play of senses throughout the film. While I was only using the senses of sight and sound the two together were trying their best to fill in for touch and smell an taste thanks to some brilliant on-screen imagery and sound used in the film
Andhadhun is all it promises, its fast paced and keeps you engaged throughout just like other Sriram Raghavan films like Badlapur and Johnny Gaddar have done in the past.
Both Ayushmann Khurrana and Tabu are spellbinding in the film. They bring a certain electricity to the screen that is as seductive as it is scary and that is the quality of Andhadhun
As for the plot, Aakash played (notice the use of the word played ) by Ayushmann Khurrana is a blind pianist. Tabu plays bored housewife Simi who is in search of a tune for herself. Pramod Sinha played by Anil Dhawan is a faded star. It is sufficient to say that all of them have a mask on it’s when the mask is removed that we get to see an interplay of character and emotion love lust death and destruction
Like all whodunnit’s this one too begins with a murder and the murderer is in plain sight or is he now that is the gripping suspense that hols you through this little gem.
Sure go watch this one but it will bring you to the edge and keep you there for most of it so watch your ass.
