I must at the top of this Bhoot Part One movie review tell you that this is Dharma Films first horror film and it’s all about loving the horrible. Ok done with that let me move swiftly to the review.
Squeaking dolls in dimly lit halls and ghost that swish past you to make horror come true are things of the past that Bollywood just loves to scare with nothing has changes here even though horror has taken a whole new twist on the internet with all the OTT platforms like Netflix and Co delivering stuff that will make you crawl out of your skin.
The story goes something like this ghost ship washes up near Mumbai’s Juhu beach true-life incident. Post-inspection officer Prithvi played by Vicky Kaushal is deputed to inspect the ship and submit a report. So he goes on board the wreck only to be greeted by the eerie of a clanging sound that screams through the silence and ‘bhoots’ that run across the ceiling in the background.
There is a twist and that is in the form of personal trauma that Vicky is going through that distracts him to solving the bhoot mystery on board the ship. So did I get the tagline of Bhoot Part 1 from Dharma wrong no its not about horror but all about liberating the demons within. Ah finally a reason to watch the film
Vicky Kaushal, sure is a gifted actor, and he does full justice as he goes about freeing the ship and himself of ghosts from the past and that is the one shining element to an otherwise dull drab and sometimes horrifying tale
Bhoot Part One, I wonder why it is called that. Are there one two many bhoot’s on the block or is this just the beginning of a horror series from Dharma films. Either way, this good old horror film that could have been placed in another time say the 90’s scares in parts but only just.
I give the Bhoot Part One movie a review star rating of 1/5 one star on of five and that is for Vicky Kaushal
