Deepika Padukone revealed her first look from her upcoming project ‘Chhapaak’. In ‘Chhapaak’, Deepika Padukone will personify the role of an acide attack survivor and activist.
The project will be helmed by Meghna Gulzar. Chhapaak also marks debut film for Deepika Padukone as a co-producer.

Meanwhile, Meghna Gulzar also described the character of Malti in few words: “She is courage. She is hope. She is Deepika Padukone as Malti in Chhapaak. Shoot begins today.”
Deepika’s character in the film is called Malti and the film is based on the inspiring, real-life story of Laxmi Agarwal.
Laxmi survived an acid attack at the age of 15. She was attacked by a man and his two friends because she refused to marry the former. Since the incident, she has been campaigning against acid violence and the sale of acid. She founded an organisation called Stop Sale Acid to achieve this goal.
Lakshmi has also awarded with the 2014 International Women of Courage award by the then US First Lady Michelle Obama.
The shooting for Chhapaak begins from today in the national capital. Earlier, Deepika Padukone had shared from the film’s script reading session where we also spotted her co-star Vikrant Massey. He plays the role of Malti’s partner in Chhapaak.
The film is jointly being produced by Fox Star Studios, Deepika Padukone’s own KA Entertainment and Meghna Gulzar’s Mriga Films.
Chhapaak will release on January 10 next year.
