Bollywood actor Kangna Ranaut paid tribute to the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu late J.Jayalaitha on her death anniversary on the sets of ‘Thalaivi’. The actor is essaying the role of Jayalalithaa in the upcoming biopic.

The former Chief Minister was fondly called ‘Amma’ by people of Tamil Nadu. Jayalalithaa was born on February 24, 1948, into an Iyengar family. She made her debut in the film industry as a child artist in a Kannada Movie. Jayalalithaa worked in various movies in different languages before entering Indian politics.

Jayalalitha joined the AIADMK party in 1982. She was the CM of Tamil Nadu for 14 years. In 2016, Jayalalithaa was admitted to Apollo hospital. After her health deteriorated she was put on a ventilator. On December 5, 2016, the doctors declared her dead. Jayalalithaa passed away at the age of 68 years.

Recently, Kangana revealed the first look from her movie on social media. The actor also learned Bharatnatyam for her role. She shared a couple of videos from her dance session on Instagram.

The actor also gained a few kilograms and took hormonal pills to get into the character.

The movie is directed by Al Vijay. Thalaiva releases on June 26, 2020
