Actor Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming biopic ‘Thalaivi’ on the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu late J. Jayalalithaa has landed in trouble. The Madras High Court has granted permission to Jayalalithaa’s niece, J. Deepa to sue the makers of the movie.
Earlier this month, J.Deepa had accused the makers of ‘Thalaivi’ and another web series ‘Queen’, both based on the former CM’s life, of violating the family’s right to privacy. Since Jayalalithaa did not have any children of her own, Deepa is the legal heir.
Deepa added the makers of neither of the projects approached her before making the film/series. Hence they do not have any legal rights.
On Tuesday, Justice K. Kalyanasundaram of the Maras High Court has granted permission to Deepa to sue the makers of both ‘Thalaivi’ and ‘Queen’.
According to reports, Deepa has also filed a compensate plea against the Thalaivi’s director, AL Vijaya and Queen’s maker Gautham Vasudev Menon.
Actor Kangana Ranaut is playing Jayalalithaa’s role in the movie Thalaivi. The actor is preparing vigorously to get into the skin of the character. Kangana is also learning classical dance, Bharatnatyam for the movie. She shared a few clips from her dance session on social media.
Recently, the makers of the movie released the teaser of ‘Thalaivi’
