Congress workers barged into the Quest mall in Kolkata on Friday, vandalised the screening of the film and even damaged the screen at the theatre. Condemning the violence Anupam Kher wrote intolerance in bold letters in a tweet.

The veteran actor further posted a video and wrote, “An appeal to the authorities to stop a section of people who are indulging in acts of violence & hooliganism during the screening of our film #TheAccidentalPrimeMinister. Also a call out to other section of people who believe in selective outrage towards #FreedomOfExpression.”

Anupam Kher had earlier said, “I think he (Rahul Gandhi) himself should condemn and stop those who are protesting against the film. He should tell them that what they are doing is wrong.”

The film released across the country on January 11 amid much controversy and protests.

The biopic of Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh witnessed much criticism even before its release. Petitions have also been filed against the actors and makers of the film as they fall prey to the political vendetta.

The movie grossed Rs4.50 crore at the box office on day one.
