A sequel of the comedy family drama Badhai Ho soon to be on the floor with a new star cast. Junglee Pictures, after Badhaai Ho, is bringing a fresh pair of Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar for ‘Badhaai Do.’
Directed by Harshavardan Kulkarni, Badhaai Ho, a family drama revolved around an unlikely development, when an elderly couple with two sons, got pregnant accidentally.
The second installment promises double the fun and emotions. Though the characters will be completely new, the theme remains unchanged.
Rajkumar Rao will be playing a cop in a female-dominated police station. Rao is ecstatic to work with Bhumi and Harshavardhan and calls this a reunion with Junglee Pictures.
In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Rajkumar said, “I have played a cop before, but never with this perspective. I look for layered characters, and this one is a perfect match. My character is surrounded by strong women at home, and work, and that adds immense depth to his personality.”
Bhumi will be seen playing a PT teacher in the sequel. In an interview, she said that Badhaai Ho is one of her favorite films in recent times.
According to Bhumi, her character is ‘strong, independent, and author-backed,’ which will give her a lot of scopes ‘to bring a very different and cool character to life.’
Speaking to Mumbi Mirror, she said, “For me, the script is one of the best that I have ever come across, and I immediately wanted to do this film… I’m also excited to share screen space with Raj for the first time.”
This time, too, the film will put forth something relevant and relatable, but hilariously.
The film is rumored to be released in early 2021.
