With the two back-to-back big releases on January 11, Bollywood got its first box office hit of 2019. 4 days on we have a clear winner. But who has won the battle of the Box office Did Uri perform a surgical strike or did Accidental Prime Minister push forward a political win? Let us see how the two films did over the weekend.
DAY 4 COLLECTION
At the end of day 4, URI-The Surgical Strike is on course to enter the Rs. 50 Crore Club Uri: The Surgical Strike Box Office collection for Day 4 was a very healthy Rs. 9 crore. The Aditya Dhar directed film has now collected Rs. 44.73 crores. Uri is now headed toward the Rs. 50 crore mark that is good news indeed for Bollywood.
In contrast, the Accidental Prime Minister held firm but did not do as well as URI. The film minted Rs. 4.75 crores and raised a total of Rs. 20.55 crores in its first four days at the cinema.
While the Accidental Prime Minister grossed Rs.4.50 crore, Uri got almost double the number with Rs.8.20 crore on FRIDAY the day of release. Come Saturday and Sunday both the films saw an increase in numbers.
For Uri, Saturday saw very good growth with Rs.12.43 crore and a massive Rs.15 crore on Sunday, that brings the total number to a fantabulous 35.63 crore.
On the other hand, the Accidental Prime Minister touched the Rs.5.25 crore mark on Saturday and Rs.5.75 on Sunday bringing the total collection to 15.50 crore over the weekend. However, both the films have outperformed themselves by grossing more than the numbers expected.
With more than double numbers on its side, the Vicky Kaushal starrer Uri is well on its way to becoming the first top weekend grosser of 2019. The film is expected to notch a total box office collection of Rs.75 crores.

Still at the cinemas is the spillover film from 2018, the Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan starrer Simmba has pleased the audience so much so that the film has crossed the Rs.224 crore mark over its third weekend at the cinema. Simmba is almost on the verge of crossing the lifetime collection of another Rohit Shetty blockbuster Chennai Express. The Shah Rukh Khan starrer Chennai Express’ has a lifetime collection is Rs.227 crore.
