‘Kalia’ from ‘Sholay’, actor Viju Khote dies at 77 Hindi Marathi films
Veteran actor Viju Khote, best remembered for his portrayal of iconic character ‘Kalia’ from ‘Sholay,’ and ‘Robert’ from ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ breathed his last at 77 on Monday.
The news was confirmed by Cine and TV Artists Association (CINTAA) that wrote on Twitter, “#CINTAA expresses it’s deepest condolence on the demise of Shri Viju Khote (Member Since: 1970).”

As per reports, he died at 6.55 am in his sleep at the residence.
He has been unwell since quite sometime and had multiple organ failure.
The deceased actor has appeared in over 300 Hindi and Marathi films and numerous television shows and was also involved in Theatre.
The actor known for his immense contribution to the Indian cinema had a long career spanning over 50 years and made an everlasting impact in the cult Marathi film, ‘Ashi Hi Banva Banvi.’
Son of a noted stage actor Nandu Khote, the actor has managed to make us laugh through films like ‘Atithi Tum Kab Jaogey,’ ‘Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani,’ ‘Garam Masala,’ and ‘Aamdani Atthanni Kharcha Rupaiya’.
Khote also featured in popular films like ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ ‘Karz’, ‘Nagina’, ‘China Gate’ and many more.
His friends and colleagues in the film industry have expressed grief on his death.
