Captain Iyer and Coach Ponting in trouble as they struggle with the team’s line up

The head coach of Delhi Capital, Ricky Ponting is in a fix as he struggles to place his opening 11 who will battle it out in the upcoming IPL 2020 match.

The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League will kick off on September 19 in United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Delhi Capitals will go head-to-head against Kings XI Punjab in their first match of the Indian Premier League 2020 in Dubai on September 20.

The Delhi Capitals teal is well equipped with some top-class players this season. Captain Shreyas Iyer and the head coach Ricky Ponting will be facing a huge task of settling their team line.

“Counting down the days until we start our season on Sunday. The boys have been outstanding with their training and preparation and competition for spots in the starting eleven is certainly hot. Exactly what you want as a coach,” Ponting tweeted.

Let’s start with the openers, last year Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw opened the batting for the franchise. This time they will be in big trouble as Delhi Capitals has roped in Ajinkya Rahane, Marcus Stionis, Shimron Hatmeyr, and not to forget Jason Roy who is also fit to play.

When it comes to the current form then Jason Roy should be the first choice opener for the team as he is in his peak since last year’s World Cup. The team has also roped in Marcus Stionis who will be the key player for the franchise this year but still, there is some uncertainty about his batting order.

The bowling department looks much more balanced with Kagiso Rabada leading the pack. Ravichandran Ashwin will also be the part of the Delhi Capital bowling line-up this year and he will also deliver with his bat at number 7 for the team.
