The second part of the budget session resumed today at 11 am after the Holi break.
Debate on Delhi violence was initiated by Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury around 3 PM. The 63-year-old politician went on to ask Amit Shah about how did the violence in Delhi continue till three days.
Chowdhury said, “Government, especially Home Minister Amit Shah, has to answer how violence continued for three days in Delhi. What was Amit Shah Ji doing when Delhi was burning?”
Taking a jibe on the opposition, BJP leader Meenakshi Lekhi said, “Anurag Thakur & Parvesh Verma were blamed for Delhi violence. Anurag & Verma made comments on Jan 20 & Jan 28 respectively, while the violence started on Feb 23. Kapil Mishra was held responsible for acts of Amanatullah Khan, Sharjeel Imam&Tahir Hussain.”
She went on to say that the BJP government managed to control the violence in Delhi within 36 hours.
“No action has been taken against the ABVP for the violence in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU)…PM Modi and Amit Shah should go and meet the Delhi violence victims,” DMK leader TR Balu said in the Lok Sabha.
TMC MP Saugata Roy launched a verbal attack on BJP’s Meenakshi Lekhi by saying, “She is an advocate of the Delhi Police, a police which showed inaction.”
Shiv Sena leader Vinayak Raut hit out at the Centre and said that Maharastra’s CM Uddhav Thackeray managed to contain “Shaheen Baghs” from developing in the state by indulging with the protesters to discuss the CAA.
BJD MP Pinaki Mishra said in the lower house, “We’ve supported CAA. Women in their mid-80s are sitting in protest at Shaheen Bagh. Perhaps this is time to think of including Muslims from countries in this region where they are in a minority. This will give them a feeling that Govt cares for them.”
NCP leader, Anmol Kohle called out the BJP regarding hate speeches by saying that the saffron party’s leaders incited violence related to CAA across the country, especially in Delhi.
“If the Home Minister cannot handle the situation, he should resign,” CPM leader AM Arif said in the Lok Sabha.
Hitting out at the Central government, AIMIM chief Owaisi said, “To call it a communal riot will be a joke. It was a pogrom. This is not a question of Hindu or Muslim, this is about whether you(Govt) will rise up to your Constitutional duty. I demand an inquiry by a sitting SC or High Court judge.”
Owaisi also launched an attack on PM Modi by saying, “His eyes never cry, his heart does not bleed for Delhi riot victims. You became PM over our dead body”.
