Meghna Gulzar’s much-awaited film “Chhapaak” comes out with its first trailer at the trailer launch event on Tuesday. After Talvar and Raazi, this is Meghna’s third venture where she is again dealing with a difficult subject as she did in her earlier movies.
Chhapaak is based on the inspiring life story of acid-attack survivor and activist, Laxmi Agrawal, which will be played by actress Deepika Padukone. She is also producing the film
Deepika is playing the role of a girl, Malti, who is attacked with acid and her journey of struggle and justice. Vikrant Massey is seen as playing the leads companion and confidante. The character is inspired by the life of Alok Dixit, husband of Laxmi Agrawal. Vikrant was last seen recently in ALT Balaji’s series “Broken But beautiful, season 2”.
Deepika got emotional at the trailer launch event and shared her emotions for the film. She thanked the director of the film, Meghna Gulzar. “It has been an emotional journey. Irrespective of how it will be received, it will be the most special movie in my career. I hope you see what we have seen in the movie. We have made this movie with a lot of enthusiasm and responsibility,” said Deepika at the trailer launch.
The director and the actors met a lot of acid attack survivors and shared the experience of the same. “The spirit and inner strength that we all have are recognised only when something extremely traumatic happens in our lives,” said Meghna Gulzar.
The two-minute-long trailer shows us all aspects from start to end. Beginning with the crime and eventually leading to self-discovery and justice. The movie is much-awaited ever since the first look was shared by the crew of the film back in March. The movie will be released on January 10, which also happens to be Padukone’s Birthday.
