On Sunday evening, a Lamborghini Gallardo crashed into a police kiosk at CTO Circle across Cubbon Park Metro Station in Bengaluru.
The kiosk was vacant, and there were no reports of any injuries but the owner of the Lamborghini, abandoned the car and fled.
The reckless driver of the car was one of the directors of Fun World and Resorts India Private Limited, Sunny Sabarwal (28), went back at the accident scene and posed in front of the kiosk. He later posted the picture on social media.
The police said that the post had been taken down.
The car was headed towards RT Nagar from MG Road. The unfortunate accident took place on the way towards the road leading to Raj Bhavan.
The damage was severe. The front wall, the chairs were damaged and it caused a hole in front of the building.
Senior police officials said, as soon as the crash took place there was a massive gathering of commuters to see as the consequences of what had happened and amidst that, Sunny had already escaped.
When the picture went viral on Sunday through Whatsapp, Sunny received calls and messages asking about his whereabouts. One of the police officials said, “He went back to the spot and clicked a picture of himself with a thumbs-up sign at the damaged kiosk.”
Ravikante Gowda, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) probed into the matter with DCP Traffic (East) M Narayana heading the team. Through the help of CCTV footage, Sunny was tracked down.
On Monday, Sunny was charged under rash and negligent driving at his house in RT Nagar.
According to a senior police officer, “His family initially denied it. We showed them the CCTV footage and also the picture where he posed in front of the kiosk. He was arrested, and we imposed a fine of Rs 2,000. Since section 279 is bailable, he was let go after the arrest as he obtained station bail.”
