Prime Minister Modi launched a campaign #IndiaSupportsCAA to spread awareness regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act.
The controversial act has been opposed by a large section of society. Thousands of people are seen on the roads protesting against the act.
The government has said that the opposition is spreading misinformation and that the Act is not discriminatory at all.
#IndiaSupportsCAA because CAA is about giving citizenship to persecuted refugees & not about taking anyone’s citizenship away.

The government has been releasing videos explaining the act saying the act is purely initiated to give citizenship to non-Muslim refugees coming from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan, and not to take away the citizenship of any citizen of India.
Dozens have been killed during the demonstrations, many of them in Uttar Pradesh. BJP leaders have said the government didn’t anticipate the anti-CAA protests, which have now gone on for weeks.
