Global online streaming giant Netflix is all set to roll out a much cheaper subscription plan for mobile only users in India. The plan is set to be priced much lower than its other subscription plans.
Netflix subscription plans at present are much costlier than other streaming platforms like Amazon and Hotstar. With this move the online streaming platform is targeting to expand its user base in India.
After the company’s quarterly results showed that Netflix subscription was lower than the expected figures. It is after this the company had announced it will soon roll out a mobile only users low budget offer.
With the latest move the online streaming giant is said to compete with its rivals Amazon, Hotstar and Zee5. In March, the streaming giant was contemplating a subscription offer of Rs 250 per month for mobile users only.
The rate was fixed so low compared to its current plans is because of the fact that India has one of the cheapest data plans in the world.

Netflix has been offering 3 different subscription plans at Rs 500 (Standard Definition and streaming on one device), 650 (High Definition and streaming on two devices) and 800 (Ultra HD streaming on 4 devices simultaneously) based on video quality and number of devices.
Netflix competes with the likes of Hotstar, Amazon and Zee5. Hotstar is offering Hotstar VIP at Rs 365 per year and Hotstar Premium plan priced at Rs 199 per month or Rs 999 per year.
Amazon prime Video costs Rs 129 per month or Rs 999 per year for Prime subscription along with other benefits. Zee5 also charges Rs 999 per year for All Access Pack.
