Whatsapp is finally ready to roll out its recent feature, the ‘dark mode’ for both the iPhone and Android users. Facebook-owned Whatsapp was working on this feature for a long time now and is finally out today.
While Facebook and Instagram both are dark modes equipped, Whatsapp was the only one left for an up-gradation.
After a series of beta-testing, Whatapp’s new update will reach your phones through a software update or an application update.
The key focus of this update was highlighted by Whatsapp on a blog post. The blog post spoke primarily about reducing eye-fatigue.
Whatsapp wanted to ensure the dark mode work in line with all the settings of iPhone and Android devices. There wouldn’t be a change of experience in between the two operating systems, in simpler terms the dark mode which will be ‘truly’ black for iPhone would be on sides of ‘grey’ for Android. They are, however, working on making the texts pop out.
The Android 10 and iOS 13 at present support the dark mode, which will automatically be applied to Whatsapp. But for users of Android 9 or less will undergo an update of the application. After which you will require to go into the WhatsApp settings to manually enable the ‘dark’ theme from your chat settings.
The dark theme will be unavailable for the iOS 12 users, so a software update to iOS 13 is necessary before getting the theme on Whatsapp.
