Online food delivery giant Zomato is winning hearts on internet for its response to a customer who cancelled the order for assigning a non-Hindu delivery agent to deliver the food.

On Tuesday night a customer Amit Shukla, wrote on twitter saying he had cancelled an order for designating a non-Hindu delivery agent.

“Just cancelled an order from ZomatoIN they allocated a non-Hindu rider for my   food they said they can’t change the rider and can’t refund on cancellation,” he said. Amit Shukla even posted screenshot from the app to show the designation of non-Hindu delivery agent and the chat with the customer support.

Zomato India won the internet with one statement which said “Food doesn’t have a religion. It is a religion.”

Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal responded saying “We are proud of the idea of India and the diversity of our esteemed customers and partners. We aren’t sorry to lose any business that comes in the way of our values.”

Twitteratti responded overwhelmingly to the Zomato founder’s tweet. Many praised him for not entertaining religious bigotry and hate. Even their competitors Uber eats stood in support with them sending across a strong message.

“Well said! Rare to find corporate voices publicly rejecting the growing hate and bigotry” said a twitter user appreciating the move by Zomato.
