Be it a leisure excursion or a work trip, while traveling one has to spend time at airports; making or breaking the overall travel experience.
Airports are not mere landing and boarding strips for visitors. Their trip begins and ends right there. Thus, airports are a priority for nations in creating an inviting, attractive and conducive space for tourists and visitors.
As per Skytrax rankings for world’s best 100 airports for 2019, we can trace the best of traveler airport experiences. Skytrax, every year on the basis of votes by travelers around the world, in World Airport Survey, ranks the airstrips. Today we have the survey report for 2018/2019 and Asia can be seen leading the chart.
For the seventh year in a row we have Singapore’s Changi International Airport taking the first rank and one visit to the airport, nobody would ever disagree. The top five include Tokyo’s Haneda, Seoul’s Incheon and Doha’s Hamad International Airport, with Hong Kong. We also have London’s Heathrow International airport at the eighth rank.
None of the airports for the States made it to the list of top 10. We have Vancouver, North America at the highest – 17th. While Denver is at 32nd and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport can be seen falling down from 69th rank in 2018, to 74th this year, being replaced by Bangalore’s Kempegowda International Airport.
We have the Indra Gandhi International Airport, Delhi leading our charts with a rank of 59 and followed by Chhatrapati International Airport, Mumbai at 64th and Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandi International Airport at 66th rank.
Dubai International Airport, the primary international airport serving Dubai, United Arab Emirates and the world’s busiest airport by international passenger traffic has been ranked at the 24th position as per the survey.
One spot ahead of London Heathrow, Munich Airport takes up the seventh postion in the top 10 list and is the highest ranked in Europe. Tokyo Haneda Airport also won the title of the world’scleanest airport and Changi the years’s top tites for best leisure amenities and best airport hotel for Crowne Plaza.
Changi Airport is also expanding to meet its rising demand for air travel. The airport has a record of 65.6 million passengers last year. The airport will be completing the fifth terminal, a runway and a shopping-dining-leisure facility to be called Jewel, adding finer layers to visitor experiences.
The survey also ranks for the best airport dining experience and the top spot here has been filled by Hong Kong International Airport, beating Singapore.
