It’s good news for all the cancer patients! The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has decided to launch National Cancer Institute (NCI) in Jhajjar, Haryana in December this year. It will be a big relief for all cancer patients in the country once NCI is operational.
What all will be present in the hospital?
25 operation theatres
Fully equipped 30 emergency beds
3 CT Scanners
5 Linear Accelerators
4 Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scanners
Critical care stimulation labs
According to AIIMS doctors, the existing cancer OPD witnesses about 1,500 patients per day which makes it congested. Moreover, only 300 patients are treated every day while rest go back.
Oncologists say that in India, over 14.5 lakh are diagnosed with cancer and 7.36 lakh die of this every year.
The project launch for NCI was started in 2014 and was supposed to be finished by 2017.
A senior official from AIIMS told Mail Today, “As of now, we have everything in place. We are putting medical equipments in place. Recruitment for manpower is being done. We also get the additional resources and funding from the government for the project, so there is no financial crunch. By coming December, we would be prepared to start NCI.”
