Uttar Pradesh (U.P.) Police Department on Monday lodged an FIR against BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and nine others in relationship to Rae Bareli road accident of Unnao rape survivor. The case is registered at Gurubaksganj Police Station, U.P.
In another update after an unprecedented late night meeting, the state government decided to refer the case to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Kuldeep is the facing jail time in connection with the rape of the minor girl.
Indian Penal Code Sections (IPC) 302, 307, 506, and 120-B are slapped against Singh and his associates. The FIR registered quotes Sections against murder, attempt to murder, criminal intimidation, and criminal conspiracy, respectively.
Along with the prime accused Kuldeep, his brother Manoj Singh Sengar and 8 other co-conspirators will be facing the courts.
The action comes after twenty-four hours past a speeding truck rammed into the vehicle carrying the survivor. The case is filed on the basis of the complaint lodged by Mahesh Singh, the survivor’s uncle.
Currently, Inspector General (IG) S.K. Bhagat from Lucknow Range spearheads the investigation team. According to IG, the Superintendent of Police (SP) is in charge of the probe. He is expected to deliver a detailed report in a couple of days. The preliminary investigation is underway, looking into the alleged lapse in security provided to the survivor.
The accident took place when the rape survivor along with her two aunts and lawyers where on the way to meet Mahesh. While survivor’s aunts succumbed to injury, she herself and her lawyer are sustaining critical injuries. Both are, currently, under observation at a hospital in Lucknow.
