An employee of Burger Singh, a popular fast food chain was caught red-handed for ‘cloning’ customer’s debit or credit card and selling their data.

Sumit was a sales manager at Burger Singh, at the Great India Place outlet based in Noida.

The initial investigations reveal that Sumit was working with the Burger Singh GIP outlet since December 2018.

According to a report published in Dainik Bhaskar, the accused used CCTV footage installed right above his counter to read the Personal Identification Number (PIN) of the debit cards he was cloning.

Sumit was swiping the cards of customer on a skimmer device he had kept with himself.

The incident was reported after an HDFC bank customer complained to the bank about irregular transactions. Further inquiries led to the discovery of transactions made in Burger Singh outlet in The Great India Place mall.

Police officials from Noida Sector 39 launched a probe into the matter. Sumit’s activity was caught on CCTV camera and he was arrested. The police is currently chasing the gang to which Sumit sold the data at Rs10,000 to Rs15,000.
