The total number of positive cases of the novel coronavirus pandemic in the country rose to 562 on Wednesday and the number is still counting. Kerala and Maharashtra reported 107 and 105 positive cases respectively, the highest in the country.
According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 40 people have been successfully treated for the coronavirus and the death count stands at 10.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, 24 March, announced a nationwide lockdown starting midnight on 25 March for 21 days to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country.
However, fair price shops and those dealing with food, groceries, fruits, vegetables, dairy, meat, fish, animal fodder will remain open, as per guidelines given by the government.

However, Amazon India has said they will be giving priority to supplying essential goods amid the lockdown while they will get in touch with customers who ordered goods of lesser priority.
A group of 277 Indians who were evacuated from Iran have arrived at the Jodhpur airport today. A preliminary screening was conducted at the Jodhpur airport upon their arrival and thereafter the evacuees were shifted to the Army Wellness Facility established in Jodhpur Military Station.
Additionally, the government on Wednesday banned export of anti-malarial drug hydroxycloroquine, with immediate effect to ensure sufficient availability of the medicine in the domestic market.
