The Health Ministry, as of now, announced 415 positive Coronavirus cases in the country. The total number around the globe stands at a whopping 3,00,097.

As a result of the rise in infected numbers, the Indian government announced a total lockdown on 75 districts. Any violation of the lockdown will result in legal action against the violators.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also tweeted to remind the citizens of the country to take the lockdown instructions seriously to save themselves and their families.

The 75 districts that imposed the lockdown included major cities such as Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Kolkata. Other cities like Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana, Telangana, Nagaland, Punjab, and southern states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka also announced a complete lockdown, following the Janata Curfew.

Train, metro, and inter-state bus services will remain non-operational till March 31st.

On Sunday, 68 new cases were reported from 14 states. Bihar also reported three confirmed cases and one death.

Mumbai saw a huge rise of positive Coronavirus cases, with 15 added cases, taking the infected number to 89. All private offices, commercial establishments in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad and Nagpur were ordered a shut down by the Chief Minister Uddhav Thackrey. Government offices to be operational at a 25% capacity.

In the light of increasing cases, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal also announced a lock from March 23rd, 6 am till March 31st midnight.
Delhi’s Uttar Pradesh and Haryana borders were ordered a shutdown, and non-essential services would not be allowed to even travel in private vehicles.

The order said, “People who come out to provide or avail of essential services will be allowed on self-declaration.”

Any person violating prohibitory orders shall be punishable under section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code.

The Supreme Court also follows no in-person hearing of cases. Urgent matters would be taken up through video conferencing, and the lawyers’ chambers would be sealed.
