The Union Cabinet approved the extension of Delhi Metro corridor from Dilshad Garden to New Bus Adda Ghaziabad on Thursday.
According to reports, the rolling stock for the project is being allocated by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). Meanwhile, the land has been provided free of cost by the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA).
“The total cost of the line is about Rs1,710 crore, along with a grant by the Centre,” a senior official said, requesting anonymity.
The 9.41-km-long corridor project has missed several deadlines so far.
The elevated section from Dilshad Garden to New Bus Adda Ghaziabad comprises eight stations: Shahid Nagar, Raj Bagh, Rajendra Nagar, Shyam Park, Mohan Nagar, Arthala, Hindon River and New Bus Adda.
Passing through Sahibabad Industrial Area, the second metro line in Ghaziabad is aimed at impacting the nearby residential areas.
The first metro link connects the interiors of the city.
