Major DP Singh performed a successful skydive on Thursday to become 1st disabled veteran to perform the sport.
Widely known as “Indian Blade Runner”, the Kargil War veteran endorsed the “Spirit of Adventure” for all disabled soldiers who suffered physical or war injuries during peace or wartime.
A retired soldier of the Indian Army, Major Singh was trained by the Indian Army to perform the feat. The training started on March 18 this year. The training culminated on Thursday with Singh’s successful stint.
Major DP Singh had lost one of his legs during Kargil War.
Indian Army is observing 2018 as the ‘Year of disabled soldiers in the line of duty’ to celebrate the ‘undying spirit of the soldier.
