India rejected the claims of having agreed to Islamabad’s call to hold talks seeking cooperative relations with Pakistan. This came in the backdrop of Pakistan media selling reports saying Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Minister for External Affairs have agreed to hold talks with Pakistan.
MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar clarified that India had responded to the congratulatory messages received from Islamabad saying India seeks cooperative relations with all the neighboring countries including Pakistan.
“As per the established diplomatic practice, PM and EAM have responded to the congratulatory messages received from their counterparts in Pakistan. In their messages, they have highlighted that India seeks normal and cooperative relations with all neighbours, including Pakistan,” spokesperson for Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), added Raveesh Kumar.
Raveesh Kumar was responding to queries regarding the responses of India to the congratulatory messages of the neighbouring country. The MEA spokesperson said the PM stressed on having an “environment of trust, free of terror and hostility” while EAM stressed upon atmosphere free from the shadow of terror and violence.”
