JNU Protests violence on campus

JNU students and teachers were attacked by masked men and women carrying sticks rods and acid on Saturday night.

The violence in the campus caused a nationwide stir, SOS messages were sent on social media as the students inside the campus requested help. Celebrities like, Swara Bhaskar and Zeeshan Ayub shared a personalized message on social media platforms asking people to reach the University as soon as possible.

By night the protests began at the Delhi Headquarters ITO where protestors demanded security for the students and also demanded arrests of the vandals.

Students staged a candlelight march at Gateway of India, Mumbai which continued till morning today. Umar Khalid, Jim Sarbh, Kunal Kamra were also present at the protest.

Students from Hyderabad Central University took to streets to show solidarity with JNU. They raised slogans like “Hum leke rahenge azaadi (We want freedom)”, and “Delhi Police Murdabad”.

Scores of students from the Indian Institute of Management – Bengaluru (IIM-B) and National Law School of India University (NLSIU) held candlelight vigils on Sunday night in protest against the violence reported in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in New Delhi.

Aligarh Muslim University will take out a Tiranga March to protest against CAA and JNU violence.

The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) students in Pune gathered to condemn the attack on JNU students and teachers. The protest information at Jhansi, Banaras, Calcutta, Ranchi, Ahmedabad are doing rounds on social media.

The Students’ Federation of India’s(SFI) Kerala unit took out a protest march to the Accountant General’s office in the city in solidarity with JNU students.

Calcutta’s Jadavpur University students are also staging protests and standing in solidarity with JNU.

Similarly, the protest details in Ranchi, Panjim, Ahmedabad, Punjab is doing rounds on social media platforms.
