The total number of people affected with novel coronavirus in India is now 40 after a three-year-old boy in Kerala tested positive of the virus.
The boy had recently travelled to Italy. The child has been kept in the isolation ward at Ernakulam Medical College.
Dr. NK Kuttappan, Ernakulam Dist Medical Officer said, “The child arrived in Kochi on 7th Mar from Italy with his parents. He was transferred to the medical college after screening at the airport. His father and mother are under observation at the isolation ward of the medical college.”
Yesterday, five people of a family in Kerala tested positive. The state health minister said three of the affected persons returned from Italy and did not declare it at the airport, which is why they were not screened.
The Centre has further denied entry to any foreign cruise ships to dock at Indian ports till March 31 in the wake of the coronavirus scare.
