Unnao case: CBI grills accused Kuldeep Senger in rape survivor’s accident case

A team of Central Bureau of Investigation questioned the BJP legislator Kuldeep Senger in connection to the Unnao rape survivor’s the accident last week.

The CBI team that is probing the accident case reached the Sitapur Jail on Saturday to grill Senger in the alleged conspiracy.

According to reports, he was questioned for hours by a three-member investigation team in the jail.

Last Sunday, the rape survivor teen’s car collided with a truck near Rae Bareli killing her two aunts and left her lawyer and her in a critical situation.

The family and lawyer were on their way to meet the teen’s uncle lodged in a jail in Sitapur, who was transferred to Tihar Central Jail in Delhi on Saturday after Supreme Court order.

Meanwhile, the girl and her lawyer are still struggling for life at the King George’s Medical University in Lucknow.

A medical bulletin by the hospital on Saturday stated that the teen is still being kept on the ventilator as she has developed pneumonia which is causing mild fever.

The condition of both the patients is critical but stable; the statement said adding that her lawyer is doing better.

Amidst national outrage, the central government on Tuesday handed over the investigation into the Unnao rape survivor’s accident to the CBI.

Alleging a conspiracy behind the accident, the girls’ mother and opposition parties demanded a CBI probe in the accident.

Meanwhile, in connection with the Unnao rape case, Tiz Hazari court on Saturday issued a production warrant against Sengar and his accomplice to be produced before it on August 5.

Hearing in the rape case will resume on Monday.

The Supreme Court on Thursday had ordered the transfer of all 5 cases pertaining to the Unnao teen out of UP to Delhi.

In an order passed by the bench headed by CJI Ranjan Gogoi after a hearing on the matter, the court said that the trial court will hear the case on day to day basis and complete the hearing within 45 days.

The five cases pertaining to the Unnao matter are: Rape of the 19-year-old woman; Case against father of the victim under Arms Act; Case against police officials over custodial death of the father; Gang rape of Unnao victim one week after she named Kuldeep Sengar and Case against Kuldeep Sengar and others over the recent car crash.
