Delhi’s Tis Hazari court on Friday framed charges against expelled BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh under POCSO act in the Unnao rape case.

District and Sessions Judge Dharmesh Sharma passed the order and framed him under various charges including rape, criminal conspiracy, and kidnapping.

The judge has directed that he will be framed under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) as the victim was a minor at the time of the incident in 2017.

The trail in the rape case started on Monday at the Tis Hazari Court after the court has issued a production warrant against him and his accomplice Shashi Singh on August 3.

The Supreme Court on August 1 had ordered the transfer of all 5 cases pertaining to the Unnao teen out of UP to Delhi.

The duo was shifted to Tihar jail on the order of the Tis Hazari court on Monday.

In an order passed by the bench headed by CJI Ranjan Gogoi after a hearing on the matter, the court said that the trial court will hear the case on day to day basis and complete the hearing within 45 days.

Sengar, a lawmaker who was expelled by the BJP on August 1, is accused of raping a minor at his residence in Unnao in 2017, where she had gone to seek a job.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is investigating the accident case in which Senger and ten others are accused.

The case was registered on murder and attempt to murder on July 28.

The Unnao rape survivor and her lawyer who were shifted to AIIMS continues to be critical and on an advanced life support system.

A truck rammed into a car near Raebareli, killing her two aunts and critically injuring the teen and her lawyer.

The duo was airlifted from King George’s Medical College Lucknow on Monday night, where they were undergoing treatment after an accident.
