Rescue operations for the toddler began on Thursday morning and are yet to find the kid.
In the video clip, the 3 year old boy is seen walking alone at night unattended. While walking he fell into the open sewage drain.
Parents of the kid say they will drag Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC) to Court. The child’s father alleges that the rescue team arrived late. Had they been there on time the child could have been rescued rues the Kid’s father.
Residents blame the municipal officials for their negligence in covering the drainage lines. Such open drains are present in many other areas as well.
“It is the duty of the municipality to check the drains after the rains. It was their mistake that they left the drain open without any caution or temporary boundary. How is the kid supposed to know about the gutter that too at night?” asks a resident in the locality.
The incident comes after Mumbai experienced a heavy cloudburst in the city creating floods like situation. IMD predicts more rains in Mumbai in the coming days this monsoon season.
