A Delhi-based girl sat alone for hours on a silent protest outside Parliament on November 30 morning.
She was staging a demonstration against Hyderabad police for “failing to act” on time during the alleged rape and murder of a veterinary doctor, Priyanka Reddy.
The young girl has been identified as Anu and was holding a placard with a slogan ‘Why I can’t feel safe in my own Bharat’.
She vented her anger on the Delhi police when the officials asked her to end her protest or else move to Jantar Mantar. She kept weeping while sitting at the protest and later was carried away by the police in their vehicle.
On November 27 a woman veterinary doctor (Priyanka Reddy) was raped and murdered in Hyderabad, while she was heading home from work. Her burnt body was found on November 28 morning by some passersby, who alerted the police later.
Four men have been arrested by the Hyderabad police, who have confessed to the crime. They have been booked under sections 376 (rape) and 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The victim’s sister told the police that her sister had called her on November 27 night, saying she was scared as there was a lorry nearby and some men had offered to help fix her flat tyre.
On November 29 another burnt body of a woman was found in the outskirts of Shamshabad near Siddula Gutta temple in Hyderabad.
