N. Chandrababu Naidu, born on 20 April 1950, is an Indian politician. He has served as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh since 2014.
As president of the Telugu Desam Party, Chandrababu Naiduis the first chief minister of the state since the emergence of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana from the erstwhile undivided state of Andhra Pradesh.
He is widely credited with driving a distinctive development agenda, including the growth and expansion of the IT and pharmaceutical industry, providing elementary schooling, ensuring public healthcare, and driving the growth of employment opportunities in Andhra Pradesh. Mr. Naidu has carved a legacy of pervasive and all-inclusive development.
Chandrababu Naidu holds a Masters in Arts (Economics) degree. Not many know that Naidu did begin his Ph.D. studies, but could not complete because of his inclination towards politics. The politician from Andhra Pradesh began his political career at an early age; he joined the Youth Congress as a student leader in Chandragiri, near Tirupati.
Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP) was part of the ruling National Democratic Alliance till March 2018. The party exited the alliance because the Centre had not given Andhra Pradesh its due. Since that time, Chandrababu Naidu has worked to put together a grand alliance of national and regional parties against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party. Several opposition leaders such as Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal supported Naidu’s protests.

As Chief Minister, his objectives and policies are focused on development and his actions are totally result-oriented. Profit magazine described Chandrababu Naidu as one of the “Hidden Seven”, working wonders around the world.
Foreign leaders came calling, often landing in Hyderabad as their second destination after New Delhi. The international media toasted and lauded N. Chandrababu Naidu. Several technology service providers, prominent IT brands and pharmaceutical companies set up shop in Hyderabad – thanks to the policies put in place by Chandrababu Naidu in earlier years.
Chandrababu Naidu has won a number of awards; these include IT Indian of the Millennium from India Today, Business Person of the Year by The Economic Times, South Asian of the Year from Time Asia, and is a member in the World Economic Forum’s Dream Cabinet.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, as TDP nominee, is seeking election for his seventh term in succession from Kuppam in his native Chittoor district. The indefatigable politician, he has nurtured plans to take Andhra Pradesh to higher levels of economic growth and industrial success.
In run-up to the current Lok Sabha elections, Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated new schemes such as Pasupu-Kunkuma, the doubling of old age pensions, etc. These new schemes targeted more than 90 lakh women from self-help groups and pensioners in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
N. Chandrababu Naidu has excelled himself as an administrator and as a visionary chief minister. His signature initiatives – such as “Janmabhoomi” and “Shramadan” – garnered massive public support from local populations and non-resident Indians (NRIs), who voluntarily contributed their mite to the development of their home state.
