A Bus overturned in an accident in Andhra Pradesh with no casualties but severe injuries to the passengers. The incident took place in the early hours on Friday at Acchampeta junction in Kakinada rural Mandal of East Godavari district.
“An APSRTC bus from Malkipuram to Visakhapatnam was crossing a four road junction at Acchampeta village at around 2 am. A lorry from Telangana was returning after unloading at Kakinada port to Sattupalli in Khammam district and reached the same junction.
The lorry hit the back tyre of the bus from behind. The bus which was about to take a left turn, overturned. The lorry driver immediately absconded from the spot after the accident,” Timmapuram Sub Inspector Vijay Babu told ANI.
The bus was taking 35 passengers including children and 4 bus staff on a ride when the accident happened and the bus overturned.
Timmapuram police registered an FIR and filed a case under sections 337 and 338 of IPC. The investigation is on and police are searching for the lorry driver. They have seized the lorry.
Meanwhile, transport minister Perni Venkatramaiah talked with the transport and RTC officials about the accident. He ordered them to provide the best medical care to the injured passengers.
