Cricketer turned politician Gautam Gambhir, The East Delhi MP had missed the Parliamentary Standing Committee of Urban Development meeting on Friday to discuss the pollution crisis in Delhi and its neighbourhood.
Gambhir was spotted, ‘eating jalebi and poha’ in Indore ahead of the parliamentary meeting which leads to photos breaking out on the internet and making citizens react to it.
Under the fire for skipping the parliamentary meet on Delhi’s air pollution, Gambhir was targeted by the opposition who had put up Missing posters in the capital mocking him The posters had a photo of him captioned as, “Missing, last seen eating jalebis”
Gambhir took to his twitter to explain his position and said that people can troll him all they want, but trolling will not solve the pollution problem. He adds up a lame defense and said he will give up on eating jalebi if that solves the severity of air pollution.
Accomplishments as MP should be judged from the work and not a photograph, he added.
“I sit in my constituency office at 11 am and leave only when the people who had come have their problems solved or addressed,” Gambhir wrote.
“We are also in talks to install giant air purifiers with cutting edge technology across the constituency which will substantially reduce air pollution’, he further added.
