After an appeal was made to Supreme Court regarding a probe into Telangana encounter case where 4 accused were shot dead in an encounter by Hyderabad Police, Supreme court set up a three-member inquiry commission on Thursday to investigate the recent killing.
The commission will be headed by a retired Supreme Court judge, Justice VS Sirpurkar. The two others on the panel are former Bombay High Court judge Rekha Baldota and former CBI chief B Kartikeyan.
Chief Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde told the Telangana government, represented by former Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi, that aspects of its version of events needed an inquiry.
They have six months to complete their investigation. The Supreme Court has said no other court or authority should investigate this case until further orders. NHRC started its probe recently which is not stopped by the Court.\
Hyderabad police in the press conference told that when the 4 accused were taken to the crime scene to recreate the crime, they tried to run away when police shot them dead.
