Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) amplified their “Main Bhi Chowkidar” campaign ahead of Lok Sabha elections. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday added the word “Chowkidar” before his twitter name as a part of party’s “Main Bhi Chowkidar” campaign.
Similarly, BJP President Amit Shah followed the suit and has now become ‘Chowkidar Amit Shah’.
Shortly after, many Union Ministers including Piyush Goyal, Amit Malviya and Tajinder Bagga also prefixed ‘Chowkidar’ to their names on Twitter.
This ‘Chowkidar’ wave comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched “Main Bhi Chowkidar” campaign on twitter with a video and called every Indian who is working for the progress of the country is a “Chowkidaar.”
The 3-minute 45 seconds video begins with PM Modi emphatically saying, “Aap ashwast rahiyein, aap ka yeh chowkidar poori tarah se chaukanna hai (Rest assured, you chowkidar is ever alert).”
The video then moves to a song in which people from all across the nation are seen singing “main bhi chowkidar hun” as part of the chorus of the song.
With this, #MainBhiChowkidar started trending on twitter. Many social media users hailed the movement. Many people added the word “Chowkidar” to their twitter names.
Interestingly, many people received a personalised message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi official twitter handle soon after they started tweeting with the hashtag #MainBhiChowkidar. In this message, PM Modi thanked people for supporting the “Main Bhi Chowkidar” movement.

The “Main Bhi Chowkidar” campaign is a counter attack by the saffron party against Congress President Rahul Gandhi who has repeatedly hurled the “Chowkidar Chor Hai” at PM Modi, accusing him of corruption in Rafale fighter jet deal with France.
