A day after Rahul Gandhi resigned as Congress President, sister and party leader Priyanka Gandhi took to twitter and lauded him for taking the ‘Courageous decision.’ “Few have the courage that you do Rahul Gandhi. Deepest respect for your decision,” she wrote on twitter.
Priyanka Gandhi posted the message for her brother by quote tweeting a four-page open resignation letter.

On Wednesday Rahul Gandhi has officially resigned as the Congress party President taking the responsibility for the party’s defeat in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections 2019.
He tweeted his resignation letter and also thanked his fellow Congressmen and expressed his gratitude that he had the opportunity to serve the party.
“It is an honour for me to serve the Congress Party, whose values and ideals have served as the lifeblood of our beautiful nation”, Rahul tweeted along with the resignation letter.
Rahul Gandhi’s designation on his twitter handle has been changed from ‘President of Congress’ to ‘Member of Congress and Member of Parliament.”
The 49 year old leader also called on the Congress working committee (CWC) to entrust a group of people with the task of finding a new president and stressed on the need for the party to ‘radically transform itself.’
Earlier on 25 June at the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting chaired by Sonia Gandhi, he offered to step down taking moral responsibility for the poor performance of the party in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections.
Congress is currently in disarray while the speculations are rife that Priyanka Gandhi may take charge and stand at the helm of affairs.
Congress met with a crushing defeat with only 52 seats in the Lok Sabha Elections concluded recently. The party also lost the states of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh that it won in December 2018.
