Prime Minister Narendra Modi, today, tweeted, urging people to not panic and said that he has had an “extensive review regarding preparedness on the COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus.”

Interestingly, the tweet by Prime Minister Modi came a little while after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi via Twitter took a jibe at the Prime Minister saying that “a true leader would be completely focused on averting the massive crisis about to be unleashed by the virus on India”.

“There are moments in the life of every nation when its leaders are tested. A true leader would be completely focused on averting the massive crisis about to be unleashed by the virus on India and its economy,” read Rahul Gandhi’s tweet.

Gandhi also retweeted his tweet dating back to February 12, which read, “The Corona Virus is an extremely serious threat to our people and our economy. My sense is the government is not taking this threat seriously. Timely action is critical. #coronavirus”

The tweet by Prime Minister Modi read, “Had an extensive review regarding preparedness on the COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus. Different ministries & states are working together, from screening people arriving in India to providing prompt medical attention.”

In yet another tweet by the Prime Minister, he urged the citizens to not panic. “There is no need to panic. We need to work together, take small yet important measures to ensure self-protection,” he said.

The tweet also had an image attached which had steps towards basic prevention measures that need to be taken, like washing hands, maintaining social distance, avoiding touching of eyes, nose, and mouth.

In the light of growing coronavirus infection in India, two Noida schools have been shut. A total of five cases of infection from novel coronavirus have been reported in India.
