Senior BJP leader and former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis slammed the Shiv Sena and said that they never thought that Shiv Sena would ally with the Congress to form government in Maharashtra.
He said that it was a betrayal of the mandate. Fadnavis even asserted that they have won 60% of the seats they have fought and the mandate was in their favour. He said that when Uddhav says that he promised Balasaheb about getting a Sena CM to the chair, would he want that this would happen with the help of Congress?
Shiv Sena and BJP shared an alliance for many years but after the conflict regarding the appointment of the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shiv Sena formed an alliance with Congress and NCP and Uddhav Thackeray was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
Since then, both the parties have separated their paths. Recently Shiv Sena slammed BJP for bringing Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019 in the Lok Sabha but voted for the amendment.
The BJP in turn also hit back, where Amit Shah while tabling the Bill in Rajya Sabha, said, “Shiv Sena supported the bill in Lok Sabha. They should tell the people of Maharashtra as to what happened within the span of a night that they changed their stand today.”
