Bansuri Swaraj, daughter of Sushma Swaraj, former External Affairs Minister and veteran BJP leader, immersed her mother’s ashes in Ganga river on August 8.
Accompanied by her father, Swaraj Kaushal, Bansuri discharged the last rites on a boat in the Hapur stretch of river Ganga in the presence of priests and relatives.
Ahead of immersing ashes, the teary-eyed father-daughter duo attended the final parting puja praying for Sushma’s soul.
Earlier on Wednesday, Sushma was cremated in full state honour in the Capital. Bansuri and Kaushal were seen saluting during the ceremony.
Along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, senior political leaders, bureaucrats, family, and friends, thousands paid tribute to the former MEA at Lodhi crematorium, New Delhi.
The 67-year-old political giant passed away on August 7 due to cardiac arrest in AIIMS, Delhi.
