Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA Kidari Sarveswara Rao and former TDP MLA Siveri Soma were shot dead by Maoists at Dumbriguda Mandal of Araku Valley in Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam district on September 23.
A fresh video has emerged which shows how Maoists fled after alleged killings. Investigators are trying to ascertain the identity of the man and the woman who ran away from the spot where the two TDP leaders were killed on Sunday. The video was shot just after the killing of the MLA and the Ex-MLA.
Police suspect that they could be Maoist commanders who killed the two public representatives.
The attack is likely to have occurred in the wake of the recent bauxite mining contract in the region.
Special police teams have been deputed to the Maoist-affected areas in the Andhra-Odisha border for conducting combing operations. As part of the combing, special police team started checking the vehicles that were commuting through the areas as well as connecting roads in the Andhra-Odisha border.
Kidari Sarveswara Rao, who won from YSR Congress from Araku constituency, joined the Telugu Desam Party in 2016. Recently, the TDP government appointed him as a government whip.
Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu expressed shock over the incident and condemned the attack. “Such attacks and murders are a blot on humanity. All believers of democracy should condemn this attack. Kidari’s and Siveri’s efforts for development of tribals and agency areas are unique,” CM Naidu said.
