The Andhra Pradesh government under the NTR Vaidya Seva Scheme has planned to provide free medical services to pregnant women in the state.
Earlier known as ‘Aarogyasri’ in the united Andhra state, NTR Vaidya Scheme is a flagship healthcare programme of the state which aims at providing healthcare facilities to families especially those under Below Poverty Line (BPL).
Special Chief Secretary Poonam Malakondaiah, Health Medical and Family Welfare, will be planning the new guidelines incorporating the existing NTR Vaidya Seva. The updated plan will be released to the District Medical Health Officers (DMHOs).
Talking to a news agency, Guntur DMHO Dr J Yasmin said, “It has been a decision at present, we are yet to receive the official order. Once the government order comes in, we will proceed accordingly.”
Under the new scheme all pregnant women in the state, holding white ration cards, can undergo free medical services in private hospitals. They will also be entitled to free check-ups and medical aid before and after delivery.
