Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari was sworn in as the Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court by Governor Biswa Bhushan Harichandan in Vijayawada on Monday.
Also present during the swearing-in ceremony was Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, among other dignitaries.
Justice Maheshwari is replacing acting Chief Justice C Praveen Kumar.
Post the ceremony, Justice Maheshwari visited Sri Kanaka Durga Temple along with his family members to offer his prayers.
Following the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh — which divided the state into the namesake state and Telangana — the state got a separate High Court on January 1 this year. It has begun functioning from temporary premises in the Amravati capital region.
